As you can tell I have a long way to go before I can call myself a qualified blogger. I simply haven’t got the hang of continuously blogging. Since my debut last time, I’ve had numerous things to say about important topics like why I am boycotting Eastenders, how I still haven’t moved on from the fact that Berbatov took a penalty but not Tevez in the FA-Cup semifinal, how superior the Toffee fans were at that particular game and why I agree that it was right to include sentiment when choosing the 2009 Player of the Year. Also, in March, I should have praised Swedish bandy team, Sirius IK, for their good run in the Elite League. Next season I will write more about bandy, I promise.
However, what really made me put everything else on hold tonight just to write a few lines is the Tevez-saga. A colleague of mine asked me today, what would I say if Tevez went to Liverpool. Erm, I said Fergie would never allow that but then I realised he hasn’t got much to say in this as Tevez is on loan. I was just thinking of the palaver with baked beans, previous Argentinean, who was in talks with the arch-rivals.
I was at OT on Wed night and I was indeed happy to see Tevez in the starting line-up but unfortunately it is a little too late. I totally understand him, a player of his calibre should not settle for a secondary rating. But will he go to Liverpool? Nah… I don’t think so. If I had a lot of money I’d put them on a Spanish side.
The same colleague also asked me if I would swap Ronaldo for Kaka and Ribery. I said, had you asked me a year ago I would not have had to think twice, the answer would have been no. Now, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t force Ronaldo to stay at a club if he wants to move on. Which he clearly does.
I may have been one of few people who actually had a lot of respect for Ronaldo before the Real Madrid love affair came out in the open. Now I just think, come summer transfer window, let him go if he wants to. Just a shame we can’t keep hold of other players such as Tevez who easily would have stayed had he had less time on the sidelines.
And just another footballing headline that grabbed my interest today when coming back from my early morning swim.
‘Barcelona talks show we’re a big club’. It's a typo isn't it? Surely, the penultimate word should be rich… not big?

Lipstick Jungle
Yesterday was a life-changing day for me. Not just because I started playing football again after a five-year break, nor because I wrote the first few lines for this blog. But because I bought my first lipstick as an adult. Since beginning to wear make-up in a decent (I hope) way I’ve been the owner of gazillions of lipglosses and lypsyls but never lipsticks. Last time I wore a lipstick it was pink and cheap. I was 11 and it perfectly matched my fluorescent purple eye-shadow.
This time around I’d like to think my overall make-up looks a bit better. The reason for this milestone stretches back a couple of weeks when I went into Body Shop on Oxford Street to buy a lipgloss as a birthday present for my flatmate Sarah, and also the replacement for the one I lost in February.
It turned out I had an extra fiver to spend in the store through my membership card so a very helpful young lady tried to assist me in my decision on what to buy. She suggested lipstick and I explained that I never wear it as I don’t feel comfortable with it. It’s just not my thing. But I let her put some on anyway just for fun and yes, I was indeed very uncomfortable. She paid me lots of compliments and said that I my lips had a really nice shape and that it enhanced my look wearing it. So I left it on and as I was walking out of the shop I felt like a French whore.
Anyways, the compliment of hers did seem to settle and two weeks later, as in yesterday, I bought my first lipstick after careful consideration! Obviously a cheap Rimmel one, in case I lose it, but still – A LIPSTICK. Will wear it to work today, isn’t that just very exciting.
Who needs a boob job when Lipstick does the trick.

New Year's Resolutions
Football may have been the main source of inspiration to my debut as a blogger but also the fact that I have broken so many New Year’s resolutions of late made me think I had to balance it up a bit.
One of the big promises this year was never lose a belonging. I am extremely good at that and if it was a strength, not a weakness, I’d brag about my position on the world ranking. Through the years the list have grown and contains about three digital cameras, a couple of mobile phones, a handful of handbags including ID, VISA card and make up and a huge amount of gloves and scarfes. Hence why I’m banned from bringing cameras on nights out and have a second (really cheap and rubbish) mobile phone only used when partying.
Anyhow, it’s not just when I let my hair down that I tend to lose things. It happens all the time just by a simple movement from A to B. I’m so absent-minded and forgetful it’s unbelievable. So I have to confess my New Year’s resolution of 2009 ‘Not losing a single belonging’ isn’t looking too brightly. Here’s the list (so far), and don’t think I’ve not made an effort to keep hold of my stuff because I HAVE.
• My most ever expensive lipgloss from Body Shop was lost after a night out in Preston on 13.02.09, obviously because it was Friday the 13th. The same day as my ex received a £60 charge for a disallowed right-turn (which we split as he was driving me). Funny thing is he was driving me to my bank as I was paying an overdraft charge of £30. Lovely day.
• One of my favourite ear rings which was a graduation gift from my best friend. I think I lost it in the changing room at work before going to the gym. I remember taking it off before the work-out and putting it in a ‘safe pocket’ which proved not so safe. Please note I said ‘think’ which means it could be anywhere.
• A pair of cheap silver gloves from Primark after a night out in Harrow on 28.02.09.
• A cheap, plain, non-fragrance lypsyl which was ready for the bin anyways. Could be found in pockets but doubt it.
• Vaseline, the stand-in for my recently lost lypsyl. Probably lost it on when descending the tube on 05.03.09 when coming back from fabulous theatre Les Miserables. Also lost my Oyster card at this very moment but nice gentleman at the tube stop picked it up and as I was stood at the bottom of the stairs in the station wondering how the hell I lost it. He might have seen me losing it but if not I think he just sussed me out as I had the most puzzling face on the planet.
• A black H&M scarf, which I strangely enough have had for years. The scarf, that I use every day. Lost it on 08.03.09 on the tube when changing at Acton Town.
• A water bottle after footy on 08.03.09. This time it wasn’t the personal value of my belonging, nor the cost, that was hard to overcome. It was the fact that I was so thirsty and had a 3,5 miles walk ahead of me. Obviously went past a few shops when making my way from Regent’s Park to South Kensington but I was punishing myself by not allowing myself any fluid.
So that’s the complete list up to date and in 67 days I have broken one of my New Year’s resolutions no less than seven times. Subsequently, I have also broken the overall resolution which was not to break any of the resolutions. It makes sense why I started blogging which was another resolution, I just simply had to make up for the failed ones… Did I say resolution?

Finally...
Finally… my first post! One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to write in this blog at least twice every month. This was a promise of 2008 and 2009 after registering in Decemeber 2007(!) That must be a record in itself. Posting the first blog 15 months after joining and also during this time thinking repeatedly, today is the day I start blogging.
I started writing last night but only managed a few words as I was too tired, even though I was so inspired. Yesterday, I played my first proper game of football in five years (playing at Old Trafford in a staff tournament doesn’t count) and it just made me so happy and exhilarated and now I’m kicking myself for not taking it up earlier.
Had a knee op (cartilage meniscus) in April 2006 and then I was lazy and didn’t get on with the rehab. Going to uni was a ball but my biggest regret is always gonna be not joining the footy team. If I’d remembered the positive effect it has on me I would have.
I’ve played football ever since I could walk, just an average player, but my heart was always 120% in it. When moving to England in 2003 I first tried to join Manchester United so I went training with them at the Cliff (the old training ground of MAN U). Didn’t feel particularly welcomed in the team but then I had a trial with Man City which went really well so I signed for them straight away.
Went training a few times and got a couple of games but had to put that on the back burner as training finished at 10pm at Platt Lane, Moss Side. Waiting for the bus on my own in an area which gave Manchester the nickname ‘Gunchester’ and was also called the ‘Bronx of Manchester' didn’t seem too appealing.
When I was a kid and people asked me what I wanted do for a living, I always said, ‘I wanna be a professional footballer’. At the age of 15 I was on my way to a regional football college. My application for the National one in Sweden was rejected, obviously because I wasn’t good enough. And in the end, it proved too expensive to attend the regional one so the plans never materialised. Around this time, I came to my senses and realised I was never going to be a professional footballer so I set my sights on my second passion - journalism. And that’s the road I’m still on.
